This was probably my strongest image in the Traces project due to the fact that the entire picture is made from mixed media. The piping is traced with pencil, ink and paint, while the marble texture overlay I created with wax and ink, giving the final layered image an old, burnt sort of style.
Sense Of Place (Digital Shots)
These were two of many shots I took to replicate the images I took using film while shooting ‘sense of place’. I uploaded these as I liked the colour and high saturation the camera manually picked up, creating two very vibrant images, however, the said feature didn’t contribute to the sense of drunkenness and of being lost i wanted to convey therefore I couldn’t include these in the project.
People, Place & Object – Colour Processing (Continued)
Again, I came back to colour processing and decided to upload this due to the colouring in the photo. This is for the project ‘People, Place & Object’ but I may not use it as a final image because of the blue tint in the print, but I thought the symbolism in the shot was quite unique; the fact that during the day London can be a central hub in the social and economic sense but during out of hours when the shutters are down, there is degeneration, vandalism and an unkept scene, with undertones that the community is still very together, like the birds in the graffiti.

People, Place & Object – Colour Processing
People, Place & Object was a project aimed at engaging with people and street photography. This photo, taken with an analogue camera using colour film, was of a side of a building down Brick Lane in London. My view for the project was how London, the central hub of the country, as built up as it is, still looks run down and degraded in parts. I showed that idea through pictures like this.
Traces – Imprisoned Light
This image was another picture I created on Photoshop. I was interested in using the background photo because of the symmetry the shadow created. It almost looks like bars on a cell, and therefore I used the tracing of the brick wall again to solidify the concept that the light in the centre of the image is imprisoned behind brick and bars.
Traces – Light On The Wall
This mini project was to use a range of art media and layering on photoshop to produce an image conveying traces left behind. In this image I combined an imaged I traced on acetate and laying it on photoshop over an image of a spotlight shining down on the wall below. I done this to show maybe the hidden qualities that lay behind the wall, uncovered by light.
Picture This
‘Picture This’ was a group project i participated in at UCA where, as photographers were got to experiement and try out live action filming or animation and vise versa. The main goal was to try new things and to include a variety of media. The above scan is of a storyboard we made for our idea. We were using the idea of how to tie you shoe laces. The story features a main character (a small child symbolised with only shoes) being taught how to tie her shoe laces, to which an animation of the classic story of a rabbit through a hole is played out. The pair of shoes then goes to school and time progresses to a higher school where the pair of shoes comes across numerous styles of shoes being laced up in a variety of ways to which stop frame animation is used to show some of the shoes laced up. The shoes eventually find a friend and has lunch. The shoes then head back home. Currently the project is unfinished. However we have used a variety of media and they all work really well together.
