This image comes under my College Units section in the gallery as it turned out to be my final A level piece. Its a controversial image really that stemmed from a wild development of work.
The Unit was Focused on ‘Distortion’, and I started off experimenting with macro shots and techniques. I soon delved deeper into the meaning of distortion. The unit transformed almost into a study of statements people have misunderstood or proclaimed and twisted or ‘Distorted’ meanings for their own benefit. For example, desperate times such as in various wars certain leaders were provoked into misguiding their nations. The Unit developed into how many people look to religion to find an answer to their troubles, only to adopt false beliefs.
The focus of the picture is numerous hands clutching a Bible; of which features distorted pages of the Bible. This whole picture was entirely crafted using a scanner and photoshop layering to insert hands all around the Bible.
All images are taken by me, Matthew Farmer. Photos are shot in large & RAW format on a Cannon 450D DSLR camera. Any editing is made using Adobe Photoshop CS6 for Mac.
